3d implant planning

3d implant planning

Conventional (two-dimensional) X-ray diagnostics are often not sufficient to plan implant treatment with certainty. For example, when there is little jawbone or a nerve runs near the roots of the tooth.

In these initial situations, there is the possibility of planning the implantation in advance on the computer screen – including the exact position and size of the implants.

The decisive factor: 3D planning offers you more security.

The advantages of 3D implant planning:

  • A more precise assessment and thus more comprehensive protection of sensitive areas of the jaw (e.g. nerve tracts) are possible.
  • Any bone augmentation that may be required can be avoided under certain circumstances, since the existing bone is better utilized.
  • The appearance and the exact alignment of the denture (e.g. a crown) can often be determined before the procedure – this procedure, which is based on the desired result, has advantages for dental aesthetics.

This is how 3D planning works:

  • 1. Individual layered images of your jaw are created using modern three-dimensional X-ray technology.
  • 2. These individual images are assembled into a complete image by a computer program. Your jaw is then available on the monitor as a three-dimensional image. We can rotate it, view it from all sides and enlarge it as we like.
  • 3. The insertion of the artificial tooth roots is carried out “virtually” on the monitor before the actual implantation and taking into account the optimal position.
